It is almost noon, and I am still in my bathrobe. The house is empty of big girls and I am STILL taking down Christmas decorations. Today while cleaning up in peace while the baby naps in her crib, I came across a piece of paper I wrote when Maddie was a little younger than Emma (about 3 months old.) It made me grateful for how easy I have it now. I think I was trying to document her schedule to see if there was any "pattern" to her sleeping. But now that I look back, I realize that until your baby is about 5-6 months old, you are on survival mode. Case in point:
11/20/06
5-5:30 am: Nursed, then put back down
7:30 am: Woke up
8:30 am: Nursed
9:30 am: Down for a nap
11:00 am: Woke up, nursed again
12:00 pm: Ran errands, sat in carseat
12:50 pm: Started to fuss
1:15 pm: Swaddled, rocked, gave binkie
1:30 pm: Put down for a nap
2:20 pm: Woke up from nap
2:30 pm: Nursed
4-4:30 pm: Bounced in bouncy seat, would doze to motion
5:00 pm: Ate 4 oz. formula
6:00 pm: Rocked with her binkie for a couple of minutes, put to bed, cried (her, not me)
6:05 pm: Went and soothed and put back down
6:30 pm: Woke up crying
6:45 am: Rocked, put back down
7:00 pm: Put down, cried
7:15 pm: Cried, went to sleep
9:00 pm: Woke her up to eat
11:00 pm: Bed
Pfew! I am tired just READING this! Maddie was a tough baby, a lot tougher than the other two. She was a tummy sleeper, and it took a lot of time to get her to go to sleep. We still laugh at the memory of Jeff putting her in her basinett in our small closet of our small Maryland apartment, "goldpanning" the bassinett because that's the only way she would go or stay asleep. Emma is such an easier baby and I am SO grateful, because I am usually dealing with the other two when Jeff is out of town! Now I know why I was so crazy back then, and NEVER left the house!

I can't believe you got through that. I remember hearing your complaints that you could never leave the house. Now I know why.
Ha1 I think of you often having Henry and Charlotte so close. Henry is NOT a very easy guy. I love him a lot but we have been so tired for a long time! I think every kid is so different. I remember you going through it and I am sure I didn't have enough compassion for you...I do now! :)
